![]() This was a hair raising ride up and dwon the steep narrow lanes with husband bravely hanging onto the luggage on the back and me up front. Thuis was expensive, costing a further Euros 15 each way. The hotel had arranged a golf buggy to take us the rest of the way becaue cars aren't allowed on the narrow lanes. We arrived by private transfer from Cassimicciola which dropped us off about a quarter of a mile from the hotel. I would say this is the best room we have ever stayed in and we have travelled extensively and stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels all over Italy. The room was gorgeous and spacious and we felt very special sitting on our sun loungers on our own private terrace. We stayed in a Junior Suite with a private sea view terrace and a further roof terrace overlooking the sea. Returned from a 4 night stay in this hotel and I would highly recommend it. Overall a great stay and highly recommended. Though it may not be as up to date or flashy as some other hotels it has everything you need and they offer a really good service within a beautiful location. The bus station also isn’t too far for exploring further afield on the island. The location of the hotel is brilliant as there are so many restaurants etc within walking distance in lovely Sant’Angello and you can easily access the beach. Though we did not use the spa facilities I did also have a very good massage which was a reasonable price. However I know my husband who prefers to swim lengths was not as keen. The pool area is very relaxing and personally I loved the warmer temperature of the pool and it’s thermal waters. As mentioned by some others, at breakfast there isn’t a huge selection but you could get most ‘normal’ breakfast offerings, our only comment would be the need for cold milk (for cereals) to be part of the buffet rather than needing to be requested. We did not eat dinner in the hotel but lunch was quite nice and for evening drinks it is a beautiful spot. The bathrooms could do with some slight updating (particularly the hair dryer) but in general are comfortable and have the needed amenities. The rooms have a fantastic view of the bay and are quite spacious. Staff at the hotel were always friendly and helpful, particularly those on the front desk. We would love to return both to Ischia and the hotel. I will be back for dinner again this week, but I’ll skip the pricey Pina Coloda this time lol.We loved staying at San Michele and would highly recommend both this hotel and the area to anyone planning a visit to Ischia. Long review, I know, but safety and sanitation are at the top of everyone’s mind right now and I am very happy with the protocols Mocambo is using. Food and silverware brought out on a tray and the sever sanitized his hands right in front of me before touching my plate and utensils to move to the table. Menu placed at opposite side of table so you can point to the item you want instead of touching the menu. Temperature check at the entrance, followed by hand sanitizer gel. But what rates the 5 stars and my whole hearted recommendation are the staff and the safety protocols EVERYONE followed. ![]() The fish was excellent, the drink was refreshing but IMO a little light on Rum and a bit overpriced at $160 pesos. I had the seafood stuffed filet and a grande pina coloda for a total of around $450 pesos. The setting is open-air and there is both inside dining and outside where you are literally seated on the beach just a couple of meters from the ocean. Located right on the beach and walking distance from the ferry port for those coming for the afternoon to Isla. My hotel on Isla where I’ve been since Monday has a restaurant but I was looking for a change of scenery and. Very few restaurants are open for dine in service right now but Mocambo is and I was very happy that I stopped in.
